[Canada is despondently wandering the shopping district, trying to think of what to get everyone for Christmas.
He's so stuck... Especially seeing as Jasmine would be getting two gifts-

Sighing, he crouches down to look at a shelf of nice little bags. The designs are cu---

*BAM-*

Canada's forehead hits the shelf as someone hugs him suddenly from behind.]

Maple-!

[France hadn't exactly expected Canada to stumble (but then again, he should have seen that coming), and so he also teeters on his feet when the other nation does, trying his best not to lose balance so that this whole thing doesn't suddenly

turn into shelf-toppling disasters.]

Ah... surprise?

Sorry- [Standing up straight he blinks, rubbing at his forehead.]
Ah, France? H-hello.

Bonjour, Canada.

[He straightens up and gets off of Canada, brushing his hair back with a sigh. The moment has thoroughly been ruined...!!]

Out for a bit of shopping?

Sorry... [Poor France seems so put out...]

Yes. A lot of shopping actually.

[The affronted look fades quickly, however, and France is fresh and sterling as usual, leaning over Canada's shoulder to see what he may have been looking at.]

Buying things for all the nations? Don't be so generous, Canada, I'm sure some of them haven't deserved it.

Ah- well, that's beside the point, isn't it? I- I mean, it's Christmas...

Generosity is one thing, wasting your funds is another.

[He says so dismissively, even though we all know that France gets everyone something for Christmas despite all his hemming and hawwing.]

... If you really feel that way, perhaps you'd rather not receive a gift?

[He knows France really wouldn't feel that way, but he shouldn't say things like that.]

...I didn't say that, did I? I'm just giving you friendly advice, that you shouldn't waste your funds on nations that don't deserve them.

[namely England]

[*sigh* Canada figures he knows exactly who France is talking about, without naming names. (And of course you still want your gift, Papa.)]

I'm sorry, but it's not a waste-- ... ... L-look at it this way? If they don't deserve it, they will appreciate it even more, right? And perhaps they will remember your generosity. [Canada will settle for just being remembered, period.]

You're always too generous, Canada-- that's why people forget you, oui? It's easy to forget about someone who doesn't put up a fight, mon Dieu.

[patronizing, patronizing...]

[Thinking better of putting up a fight with France (they live together, after all), Canada takes a deep breath then points to the cute little bags.]

I was trying to think of a gift for Jasmine, actually.
