[ Continued from here!]

I wouldn't be what you would call graceful though, even though I've been told I don't have enough meat on my bones.

[Jonah always did say she was too skinny at times]

[An appraising look-]

Whomever told you that is quite right- you need to eat better. A healthy weight helps you fight disease and a square diet ensures you have energy through the day.

[The serious message delivered, her smile returns.]

And gracefulness has little to do with body type.

Mm. Well, maybe I'll get more carbohydrates in my diet somewhere, but then again I'm always eating rice.

In any case, you look nice tonight.

Thank you. I admit, I put in a particular effort.

[The effort being that this sort of dress felt more like a nightgown. However, there was no denying that not only was it at the height of the Thorian (as opposed to Victorian) fashion, but it looked quite stunning on her.]

And although not in a gown, you look quite dapper this evening, Lien.

A bit different from Victorian times hm? But as it's been said in my era, 'if you got it, work it.'

Huh. 'Dapper' isn't quite the word I would come to expect when describing this, but it does fit.

[She chuckles at 'if you got it, work it.' It's not too difficult to glean her meaning.]

It does at that. But rather than discuss semantics, perhaps you would rather join me in a dance?
[She is quite serious, bowing slightly and offering her hand.]

[She raises an eyebrow]

Are you going to lead? Probably better since you're a bit taller.

Certainly. I'm quite capable to.

[Hand still upraised~]

[Lien puffs up her cheeks, deliberating for a bit before accepting the hand if not a bit gingerly]

Well, why not?

the most late~ I thank Christmas. missthewoman December 29 2011, 07:06:01 UTC
Indeed. No reason not to when it is all in good fun.

[Irene takes Lien confidently out onto the dance floor, moderating her steps until she gets a feel for how well the girl can dance.]

[She's a bit unsteady at first, but seems to get the hang of. Rather quickly too]

Hey, is Holmes here too? Why don't you dance with him or have you already?

[Quite the quick study she has on her hands. Irene starts raising the difficulty of the steps.
With a slight eyeroll (what makes Lien also think that she would rather be with him?) she answers,]

I am told that he is at the bar, and should the trouble of uprooting him be worth it, I may dance with him later.

[... No, she still seems to be keeping up! Odd really, it's as if she could tell Irene was upping the difficulty]

I think you should just go for it!

[This is a social dance, not a competition, but Irene can't help but continue making more challenging steps, testing how skilled the girl is.]

You do. And what makes you say that?

[It's hard to judge her skill really, because she somehow manages to always follow up each and every time]

Just because! That and I kind of wonder what he'd look like dancing. I can't really picture it in my head somehow.

[...]

I cannot fault you for being unable to imagine it, despite your considerable imagination. He does seem quite unlikely to be a good dancer, doesn't he.

[She ceases making the steps more difficult. This was sufficient.]

And speaking of, I admit that you are not at all dancing like I pictured you would.
