Lucifer followed the trail of pillows out of nothing but a sense of idle curiosity as to where it led. Someone had certainly gone to some trouble and he wished to see what they intended. When he found the end of the trail, he paused, hovering over the being at the end and simply watching in silence. Was he disappointed? No, not really. He hadn't expected much and this merely lived up to his low expectations.

"I see you're a traditionalist," he drawled at last, still hovering, with his arms folded across his bare chest.

Polly blinked, glancing up at Lucifer with some surprise. She didn't see him out and about on the ship very often, after all--wings or no wings! Carefully, she shifted to a position from which she could talk to him more comfortably.

"Traditionalist..?" she asked.

As an afterthought, she held up the stick, showing the end: burnt.

"It left alone the pillows I walked on... And it leaves the table alone, but it burns this! I can't tell why!"

"You're poking it with a stick. It's a rather ancient method of problem solving." If it could be called such at all, of course, but the point stood. From the time of their Creation, being of all sorts, but particularly humans, had dealt with things strange to them in this manner. Lucifer had never found it particularly compelling himself, but the pattern was too clear to deny.

He looked at the end of the stick, then back at her. "And you expected to?"

"Oh..." She blinks down at the stick in question. "Well, I couldn't really touch the lava. It seemed like the next best thing."

Resting the stick on her lap, she looked back at him. "The lava seems to be the same as the lava I've seen on planets we've been to. The atoms behave the same way... I thought it must be different, but it isn't, really."

She frowns down at the imminently illogical lava.

"I should be sinking!"

Yosuke had known that there were giant spiders on the ship, of course. He'd beaned one with a blender full of ice once at work, even. But he hadn't really thought about them much until he happened to be flitting around and something sticky just...hit him...out of nowhere.

It was probably lucky that the spider hadn't been home (probably due to all the freaking lava everywhere, but it didn't feel especially lucky to struggle in the stupid web, thrashing and getting even more twisted up in the damned thing all of the time.

By chance, he was dangling upside down, working to free one wing and getting dizzy from the blood that had rushed to his head, when he thought he saw a familiar head of hair below.

"Polly-san?"

She started at the unexpected voice, then followed the sound of it upward.

Oh. There was a winged boy above her.

Polly blinked up at Yosuke, staring first at the wings, and then at the web, with the sort of calm that comes of living on the Thor, where things can always get weirder. Nonetheless...

"Yosuke...! How did you get wings?"

Yosuke's face probably reflected how annoying he found that question, in spite of his best attempts at not actually stating it. Did it matter where the stupid wings came from? He thrashed the free one irritably, but that only caused him to spin in a series of wobbly circles and become even more tangled. He groaned, not even caring that it was out loud and a girl was right there anymore.

"They're just temporary...I hope. Ugh. My head...Polly-san, do you have a knife or a box cutter with you?"

It was stupid that he didn't, really, but he didn't have any sleeves to hide his kunai in since he couldn't wear a shirt with the damned wings in the way. He thrashed again, but it only made him spin in the other direction. Great. Just swell.

She winced at the look on his face, oddly reminded for a moment of a particular long lost friend. Moving carefully, she stood up on the table's surface to get a better view of him.

"I've got something better. Hold very still for a minute, okay? And be ready to fly when you're loose!"

Narrowing her eyes, she focused on the parts of the web that had him caught. It would take some precision to bunt away those bits and extinguish the flame without hurting him, but she was sure she could do it, if he held still like she asked...
