New here? I guess you don't know how to really use the phones around here either.

You..you are listening. Right?

Yes, I'm listening. My apologies; this device is unfamiliar to me.

Don't worry about it. Is anyone going to help you with that though? It's pretty straightforward once you know the basics.

Long story short though, welcome to Mayfield. I guess you can say everyone that gets dragged here have been kidnapped. It kinda looks like America back in the 1950s, but from what everyone knows, we're probably in a completely different universe for all we know.

I'm sure I can get the hang of it. If nothing else, I can ask that woman who calls herself my "wife" to humor me.

The term "America" is just as foreign to me as "Mayfield" itself, so I have no trouble believing that this is a different universe. Does anybody know the cause of this?

No one really knows how this all happened. We do know that some of the natives here are dangerous. They're different from the drones. They have personalities.

Which reminds me, the milk that gets delivered to your house is unsafe. The milkman is one of the natives here, and it's usually filled with things like spiders or razor blades.

Spiders or... [ He's not sure which is more appalling: The idea of putting things like that in milk to begin with, or just how petty it is. As much as he doesn't like thinking about it, he can think of half a dozen better, more outright evil things to do with milk just off the top of his head. ] Thank you for the warning. I won't be drinking it.

I've been told that misbehavior results in being turned into one of the "drones". Is there anything in particular we are expected to do or not do to avoid this fate?

If you buy the milk yourself from the store, it's safe though. Your welcome though.

That's true, although I haven't had the problem yet. I'm assuming that anything that throws off the natural balance this place tries to maintain would result in getting droned. I guess, if you think it might cause problems, don't do it.

That's good to know. I'll be cautious.

Ah, one more thing: Who should I contact if I have any other questions?

Well, most people here will be able to answer your questions. If you contact anyone through the phone, you're bound to get an answer from someone.
