And so it would appear that I'm without a warden again.

[Infirmary Filter]I'd like to self-prescribe myself some antidepressants because I'm feeling sad. Nevermind that I don't have any mood disorders or chemical imbalances, or that I'm unsupervised, or that I'm not in any state where I should be diagnosing myself with anything. Just dispense ( Read more... )

Rex, don't do that. I think I know what you're talking about and...it's being handled.

Oh, is it? By whom?

Me.

How are you handling it? Because nothing's been communicated to me or anybody else beyond "Oh, I just want to see how badly he needs drugs."

I wasn't going to ask, but...now that you've brought it up...

No, I'm actually fine. Why can't anyone say they're fine without it meaning something?

Because you felt the need to reassure us of that fact.

Because I didn't want people coddling me. I thought I'd head it off at the pass. I'm not upset! [JUST DEFENSIVE.]

infirmary filter - this is caesares for FACEPALM. iam_aghost September 11 2011, 20:49:55 UTC
If that's in relation to... what I think it is, I can only say that I was in no position to comment, as I am significantly behind on such medicines, and would not dream of prescribing them when I do not understand them properly.

Self-medication in any situation is ill-advised if avoidable, and I think you're quite right to object to it being, seemingly, permitted. For the little I know about any mood-altering medication, it would require assessment by someone who is not yourself. It's rather the point.

I personally think we could do with more explicit and agreed upon procedures.

infirmary filter - ALWAYS CLASSY. Unlike Rex, who likes to froth. stopthat_destro September 11 2011, 21:09:21 UTC
It is in relation to that.

Exactly. It's also medication that can have quite volatile effects, hence the reason why it shouldn't just be handed out on request. Many people suffering from mood disorders have to try several different medications and doses before settling on the right one for themselves. Somebody who doesn't even suffer from a disorder, who's just sad, won't even get any of the intended effects!

This is just... it's irresponsible, and I shouldn't be the one bringing it up.

Re: infirmary filter - he does his damndest. iam_aghost September 11 2011, 21:18:35 UTC
I have done some reading on the subject, but would avoid even offering prescription myself for all of those reasons.

No, you shouldn't have to, but that doesn't mean you're the only person to have done so, either. I would like to think comment had been raised by those in a better position to say so than I.

I do have to say, though, the manner in which you brought it up is perhaps not the most... advisable approach.

That's where the issue of communication comes in. If I think I'm the only one who's noticed something, because the rest of the people in the infirmary are conducting things behind warden filters, what kind of message does that send to the inmates? Why should we remain in the dark?

...what's wrong with my approach? [Aside from EVERYTHING.]

[Because he knows what "I'm fine" means, and he rather likes Rex, and he's rather worked up himself after his conversation with Rassilon.]

I was going to go test some small chronon grenades in the CES if you'd like to come. I could use help taking readings.

I'll meet you at the door to the CES, then.

Excellent, I'll bring my goggles. [Because, obviously, all science requires goggles.]
