There are 3 other apartments on the same floor as me. 1 of them has a puppy that has been wailing for over three hours. I stuck a note on the door that says "your dog is UPSET when you are not home". At what point do I kick the door in and make the dog mine?

if they knock on my door and apologize for their loud dog i'll lose my shit. don't get a puppy if you can't take care of it.

All pups do that till they get used to being alone, I don't think it's a matter of not being able to take care of it.

That may be but this is happening way too often. I would rather play with the dog than hear it yelp for 5 hours.

why don't you offer to be a dog sitter then. All dogs do that, it's part of their loyalty and attention genetic code. It sucks I understand. My only other suggestion is to buy earplugs.

locking your dog in the front of your apartment...against the front door may not be wise if you are going to be gone for 12 hours at a time.
