I think my favorite part about a good zombies movie is the idea of a small number of mostly average people fighting against the entire world. That was my favorite part of The Matrix, too, even moreso than the idea of having awesome powers.
This ficlet was an exciting idea to me. Druids are victims in a war of politics, sentenced to death without question. The concept was something of a stretch - I fully admit it - but I think it serves to carry the theme well enough. This, or an idea like it, could make for quite an exciting full story.
I have to admit I've always been fascinated by the idea of the Horde forcibly splintering somehow - the thought of the Forsaken being "dealt with" once and for all usually being at the forefront. But the druids? Ooh, deliciously unexpected and I enjoyed this even more for it. :)
