Well I'm STILL unemployed.I finally gave in and applied to work at the gas station in front of Wal-Mart and had to take a timed online test. Most of the questions were what I expected, you know stuff like what would you do if a customer ... but there were like five questions that were like crossowrd puzzle questions - what's a five letter word ( Read more... )

This seems to be a theme that's going around lately, nobody can find a job. It makes me thankful for what I have, even if I do work too hard versus how much I get paid. Wishing you the best of luck, you're a good person and most certainly deserve to get a good job *hug*

I was laid off Thanksgiving 2008, & didn't find work until recently, in August, & although very grateful, it is a long term temp job, so it's not "real". I went without any income previous to that for 11 months, so I really understand what you are going through. I had NEVER had trouble finding a job in the past, but guess I did the unforgivable of becoming a woman who turned 50. (which is why I'd lost my job of 9 years to begin with. Have you tried signing with an agency? That's how I got this job. If you haven't already you may want to also consider part time work at a place like Kohls who at least in this area is hiring. Hopefully you aren't as old as I am & facing incredible discrimination as I did. I also am taking almost every civil service exam offered, & I'm hoping that leads to something permanent as I placed 8th on the most recent I took with a score of almost 99. Maybe not my dream job, but at least a real job with benefits. I KNOW how frustrating it can be, & I wish you the best of luck in finding employment. Oh, & yea, ( ... )

After 10 years I was laid off, found another job pretty quick, lost that one after a year, lost the next one after a year and now at 45 years old I feel like all they're looking for is a teenager. I have great skills but I can't figure out why no one wants me.
I'm signed up with five temp agencies in three states, so far that brought me one job that lasted one day but the pay was $95. I wish I could get more of those!
I had thought about part-time just get some kind of income because all I've got right now is the $260 a month my ex pays on child support and that's not going very far.
I'm going to see what I can apply for that's part time.
THANKS!
