I just got home a little while ago from seeing the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie. To paraphrase DNA, it was almost, but not quite, completely unlike the book. I liked it anyway. Same opinion. It was alright... mildly enjoyable in its own right, as long as you don't try and use a "it's different so it must be BAD" sort of judgement.

My only real dissapointment was that I just recently saw Sin City and Kung Fu Hustle. After too brilliant pieces of filmmaking like those, Hitchhiker's was, unfortunately, left looking worse for wear. I did my best to judge it on its own merits though, and we all had a great time. Overall opinion of the group was that those early reviewers were full of crap.
