The night of the 8th Patrick's lower leg was swollen and painful with red blotches. I told him he needed to see the doctor since it didn't look so good to me

Yes, I was pretty worried about it - probably more than him.

Maybe an allergic reaction? In any case I hope it's nothing serious.

I know it's tempting to entertain worst-case scenarios when one acquires newfound medical knowledge, but things are often much simpler.

This was not my diagnosis, but his doctor's. I'm leaning toward the allergic reaction myself.

He danced last night, so pain and swelling are down.

How's Patrick's lower leg doing? Still in the same shape as on the 8th or has it started getting back to normal? While glad to hear there are no clots, it's unnerving when something like this happens when all appears "fine" from tests.
