JORDAN: ToM Chapters 34-40 (spoilers)
I really want to finish this book up and catch up with the rest of the discussion! Argh!
Yeah, it dawned on me juuuust before it was revealed that the Gateway problems were being cause by the Dreamspike. Which makes me feel a bit silly for my speculation right at the end of the previous entry. Oh well!
Morgase's judgement was pretty good! And did anyone think that Galad would end up killing Perrin? Anyone? Beuller?
More icon oddities, as we finish up a chapter full of Perrin... then have a chapter starting with a wolf icon.. and instead start off with Gawyn. Yargh!
I'm wondering now what happened to the messenger! I wonder if it has anything to do with the Kinswoman cutting the portal short, later. Or maybe the portal closing almost on top of him marked the Dreamspike going off and cutting off Traveling, now that I think about it!
And back to the cuter and less annoying of the half-brothers, Galad. And it's good to see him growing, and becoming more complex!
And yeah, as Perrin moves the Dreamspike toward Tar Valon I could kinda see what was going on with that, although I thought it might trap Egwene and the others outside the battle, leaving the other Aes Sedai to a slaughter. I was surprised though... they must have really piddled around for a long time recovering from that convenient bubble of evil! Because they were in that camp when Rand had his Very Special Episode on Dragonmount, and he's since gone to see Egwene, pissed her off, and passed some more time since then. But I guess this at least means that Perrin's finally catching the hell up with the rest of the timelines, if not totally caught up.
Melaine is still pregnant? Timeline, damnit!
And I actually had the thought at toward the start of the battle in Tel'Aran'Rhiod that someone might use a disguise... but I thought it would be Mesaana disguising herself as Nynaeve or someone to get close to Egwene. Which would have been more effective, I think! (And now I'm all curious who it will turn out that she was disguised as in the real world, and we'd better find out!)
The Perrin and Egwene scenes were fun, albeit brief, which each considering the other a kidlet in a dangerous place that they Don't Understand. Heh.
Argh, is it like a required thing in novels with swordfighting that they have some scene somewhere where they fight in darkness to give everyone the same advantage, or something?
Wow, did Nicola really just get offed for no good reason, so casually? Man.
And damnit, I was afraid Hopper was going to die for reals yo in the Slayer confrontation, something told me he would, but I am so so annoyed that I was right! Damnit, why did he have to die AGAIN?

Kallir, shellback... can't we just freaking have SOMETHING go by its normal name? I'm assuming a shellback is probably an armadillo, but who knows?
And any thoughts on who Nakomi is, or what her purpose is? Anyone? My one thought is that maybe she's one of that "lost" clan, trying to impart some wisdom. But I don't know!
And did anyone actually think Perrin was attacking the Whitecloaks? Anyone at all? *waits for the distinct lack of hand-raising*
