Mount Kirby... a shout out?

Okay, wolfbane, crucifix, etc etc... gee, wonder what vibe we're supposed to be getting, here?

I'll admit, my first thought when she sees all the monsters is "I wonder if she's actually seeing these things, or if she's hallucinating them?" Since just because the world does have super-powered beings, supernatural stuff, etc., doesn't mean there aren't also going to be mentally unstable people seeing things that aren't there. But her little dialogue with the bus driver seems to lean away from that explanation, though it's still possible.

Yeah, guess it's not that sort of story with the twist at the end, more a story about trying to find your balance between old roots, and new worlds. Which never really goes out of style or becomes outdated, because however far you get in time, there will always be "older roots" and a new horizon.

Aww, I do feel kind of sad at the end that the lesson she takes out of it at the end is to settle down and bunker herself within her little closed community. I mean, if it works for her and it's what she wants, fine... I guess I just tend to find the stories where someone has access to two worlds, two ways of thinking, more satisfying and happy.

But that's me. :p
