yayyyyy boredom
So. Summer break = boredom thus far. The economy here has tanked, so the job market is slim pickings, to say the least. Not helped by the price of fuel.
I've pretty much decided to remain with Engineering. I'm actually debating a double major in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. (I'm currently only Aerospace) I know that here, it's the same department, so it's only about 3 extra classes to double major. I donno about anywhere else, though.
My visit to the National Weather Service office was interesting. Got to see some interesting stuff. Radars and all that cool stuff. A few things really struck me, though. First, almost all of the guys there were.. well.. guys, for one, but they were also all middle aged.. 40+. In another (not entirely surprising) development, pay there isn't bad, but certainly not what I expected it to be. The oddest thing is that it's apparently an incredibly hard job market to get into. I got the impression based on the age of all the people I saw there.
Basically, an incredibly hard/competitive job market, shift work/rotating shifts, and not exactly the greatest pay.
Conversely, friends at engineering companies (Raytheon, Lockheed) tell me that they literally cannot fill all their positions. There just isn't enough Engineers out there.
I guess, after looking at myself and the way I think, I'm just better suited to doing Engineering. I view everything as a problem to be solved, or to be made better. I like inventing and making new things. I mean.. it's fun. Simple as that.
So that's that.
Other than that, boredom reigns. I really don't have anything to do, and the lack of people to hang out with is maddening. I sympathize with Adam there.
Uh.. other than that.... nothing, I suppose.
Quick survey, anyone reading this: How many of you are going to the Wright Twp fireworks?
