Hot Underneath

Sep 12, 2005 21:41

There is the heat of anger (join the club), and the heat of passion (which seems to grow in unpredictable spurts). There is the heat of the desert sun, and camping and hiking underneath, baking with the ground. (moth_001 gets blamed for that too, actually, and I get kudos for practising compromise ( Read more... )

It's not you stirring up Helens we have to worry about - it's waking up Rainier.

That has already been mentioned. By moth_001, who somewhat enthusiastically pointed out that should the big R go, it would undoubtedly wipe me out as well. Which would result in a sort of detente.

Are you, or have you ever been, an identifiable or documentable Avatar of Chaos?

And the odd screaming blind beggar on the street.

I...really have no idea what you're on about, but the world's continuing fascination with Mt. St. Helens does amuse.

Me, I'm just glad Mt. Tabor ("the US's only urban volcano") is firmly classified as extinct. Though I did have a dream the other night that it wasn't, and I took a hike through the wreckage, photographing the place where my friend K's house once stood. I think the hurricane is to blame for that dream.

Well, let's see:

Whilst I was in Japan, the city in which I was staying suffered a 6.3 earthquake. Then a typhoon. The third earthquake, a mere 3.8, was really nothing to mention.

Whilst on the Gulf Coast ... well. I flew out the day before Katrina hit. (I have mentioned I'm a hurricane magnet, yes?)

Now I am here in the lovely PNW, spitting distance to Ranier. When I flew in, the pilot banked over Mt. St. Helen's, pointing out the visible cloud of steam cooling in the early morning air. My teammate's response: A welcome wherever you go.

Hmmm. I may have to re-think that "you're welcome to drop by, any old time" open door invite.

At least until I re-check my renter's insurance policy. *g*

Glad to hear you're still in there swinging.

Plthththththth, I say to you, oh verily.

By the by, was reviewing old letters today (while curled up in a fan duct, but that's another story) and ran across a few to you. I believe they have been sent, but wanted to check with you -- where is the ball, in this round?

hmmm. (Took me a while to page back through my inbox, I really need to clean that out.)

It appears that I sent the last one, but it was a short one promising a longer reply later.

(It's later now, I think. *g*)

You sent the last meaty one. So stand by, thoughts on the way, later today.

Make sure you give me plenty of warning should you come down this way. I want to stock up on can goods.

(and yes, this a pathetic plea for you to come visit)

Awww, now that's love. You'd risk localised disaster, for me?

Next hurricane season. I'm there, baybee.
