The Healing Touch

I went to get a massage today, in preparation for the wedding danse du fall. A wedding next weekend, another the weekend after, then two weeks' break, then another. A formal dress for the East Coast wedding which I don't really want to afford, a bridesmaid's dress I really can't afford, and hellifIknow on the last -- I'm not thinking about that ( Read more... )

For years now i feign ignorance when it comes to "formal" events and the gear to wear there. If i'd really need the right attire i'd go to a suit rental (if i need an evening suit) or wear my one dark bussiness suit. That must be enough :D

Right now I hate men. Why is it that you guys can rent a suit, even the same suit, for multiple events, and no one remarks upon it? Whereas if I were to wear the same dress to multiple events, someone invariably remarks upon it.

(Not that I don't anyway, it's just stupid.)

Well, possible solutions then:

- wear a suit instead of a dress (optionally a man's suit)
- "rent" a dress, i.e. buy it where you can return it when you don't like it. doesn't work if you get it dirty
- wear something "exotic", like a sarong, a kimono or mummy wrappings from a costume rental :D

I think i like the suit idea most. Must wear suspenders though. And a tie. Rawr.

I like the suit idea myself, but my grandmother is going to be there. I'm going to get enough shite for being (a) old, (b) unmarried, and (c) working. I'd probably kill her if I wore the suit. I would UNDOUBTEDLY kill her if I used the suspenders like I'd want to. At least in public.
