Seriously!

Castiel is no longer there. Wiped clean, spirited away. The angel-stick-of-death failed . . . you can’t kill something twice.

EXACTLY! I'm so glad we saw this the same way, because I read optimistic things around, of the kind "Dean will save him". Save who? If the show hadn't made it clear that our beloved Castiel is dead, then Sera's interviews made it so. The new being/entity only wears Cas' face. He isn't Godstiel in the sense of another form of thinkstiel, it's Casthulhu, Devourer of Souls, that HAS to be killed. Which is why Sam immediately tried to do so.

Great fic... And I quote the previous comment... You totally caught the meaning behind what happened. The despair and sadness and the "not going back" of this final episode.

Worst ending couldn't have taken place. Castiel gone, like that. But your words, at least, make this ending almost... poetic. Thank you for that.

Man, I love angsty and depressing fics like WHOA. (And besides just liking 6x22, I adore it because it will prompt a bunch of angsty and depressing fics.)

And your fic is beautiful. I loved the despair and, well... manpain that Dean's feeling. And it's so like him, to understand the obvious when it's too late, when you can't take your words back and you can't say that you forgive, that you ask for forgivenss in return and that it's going to be alright.

But unlike procedesors, I'm going to believe that they can pick up the pieces. The way I see it, doing really bad things for "the greater good" (and Castiel did try this path in s6) is one of two main themes in Spn. The other one is redemption. So I'm choosing to believe that the Winchesters will get real Castiel back. And if I'm really lucky, they'll get him back only to have him die in the next minute.

Ekhm. Loved your fic, it touched a very poetic note. And perfect ending.

*grins* LOL! ...Unfortunately, I've got the feeling this is what's going to happen! ....It'll be the death of me! ç___ç

I kind of hope that's what's going to happen. I refuse to believe that Castiel won't get the chance to redeem himself (Sam got them plenty and srsly, it's all parallels with Show), but I fail to imagine what might happen AFTER. There's no happy ending in Spn, but at the same time Dean would never leave Castiel alone, not when he's just broken. As of now, the best scenario would be to give them a chance to say their "sorrys" and "goodbyes" after which Cas would die. Even better if he asked Dean to kill him and Dean obliged, not out of spite but out of love. It would be a good conclusion, because a) they found a way to save Castiel from himself and they got their friend Cas back, b) it still brought lots of angst for Dean, because not only he killed his only best friend, but also he'll just keep thinking "if only we got to him sooner".

Oh, yeah, I'm a lover of angst and a walking deathfic. xD

I really hope this is going to happen. He deserves redemption, after everything he did... It ended badly, but he did it with the best intentions... That's what makes this scene so terribly sad... :(

It's sad to admit it but this is, indeed, the best possible scenario. I guess Cas will be the bad guy of Season 7... epic battle in the ending, Dean winning, Cas back to his old self, grateful and dying.
Oh my. This IS depressing.

LOL!!! I SO identify with you now! ;)
