The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 278 - Mooning over her

in dfifferent versions of the story Arien is a Maia of either Vána or Varda. I think she fits better as a follower of Varda because of the fire-light connection, though she could certainly have assisted Vána from time to time on her projects.

That's the thing with family - they can be so embarrassing!

The other Fire Maiar never forgave Arien for having wings. :)

My headcanon regarding the questions to Airen's answers:
    Are you Single?
    Do you want a boyfriend?
    Do you want a girlfriend?
Would you consider signing a advertisement contract for "Þerinde Jeans"?

Is the version where Airen is Varda's servant the one where the sun is actually older than the Two Trees and Melkor tried to "ravish" her?

I was actually thinking that the last two answers were to the questions "Do you want a boyfriend?" and "Can it be me?", but you're along the right lines. :)

I generally don't use the 'Myths Transformed' ideas except maybe cherrypicking isolated bits that seem interesting. It makes more sense to me that Arien would be linked to Varda, the Vala of light and the high heavens, than to Vána, the Vala of spring and birth.

On the other hand, I don't think that the Maiar are necessarily all tied to one specific Vala inherently; they're individuals with free will, and voluntarily choose to follow the Vala or Valar they feel closest to.
