grammar and rants

I need a bit of help. We are peer editing in my creative writing class, and my partner and I had a disagreement on a line in my story. Normally, I'd just ask the prof for confirmation on her correction, but he's going to be unavailable until just before the story's due.

It's not really that big of a deal, actually, but I find myself obsessing.

The second sentence is correct. It's a tricky grammatical issue, though. I referred to a grammar website before deciding upon a verdict. It's here: http://www.grammarbook.com/homonyms/confusing-words-3.asp

As for your neighbor, I'm appalled. I get it that some Christians think they're above everyone else...but as an employee in a retail store - one who has helped transgender/transexual/crossdressers in the past - I think I would have asked him to leave. That's harrassment. Of course, were I another shopper, I would have approached him and started countering biblical argument with my biblical studies. There's nothing a Christian hates more than a learned secularist who can actually tear down their argument.

thanks so much for that! You're absolutely right, and thanks for the link ;) It was funny, we confused ourselves so much over it that we'd almost decided we were both wrong--and it doesn't help that we're both slightly dyslexic, lol.

And yeah, I was pretty shocked at my neighbor. It doesn't matter how much I run into this stuff, it always bewilders me.
