Bread maker advice?

Dec 01, 2008 16:17

My MIL wants to get us a breadmaker for Xmas. Mine wore out a long time ago and not sure what is a good modestly price maker currently. I'm not 100% gung ho on this as they take up so much room.Though they can be nice when you want to make a nice gift for someone and nothing like the smell of bread in the morning if you program it.

I think that the issue with them is that even the same model will have different performance depending on the individual machine. Happened to us. I replaced the one that I used to use all the time and the new one doesn't fully bake the bread about half the time. Sucks and I don't make bread very much anymore.

For what it's worth, I have a Breadman Ultimate.

Personally, I think your bread looks and tastes fabulous just the way it is. Perhaps you could give her a suggestion that would lead her in a direction that's more to your liking/needs.

I think your MIL should mind her own business -- after chatting with you a few days ago, I thought I finally had a good present idea... and now she stole it! ;)
