WoW episode 4
4 The Monster Under the City
The crocodile man advances on the untransformed Winx, who huddle in terror! Stella calls for help as the monster picks up a robot to throw at them when... it's Super Naoki! In a cape! He uses his powers to zap the monster, then it grabs him by the tail! Tecna, with hearts behind her, says he's their only hope.
Ok, he IS kinda just like Timmy, so if Tec doesn't mind dating a younger guy, why not?
But of course this is the story Naoki is telling his friends. Tecna and the Winx appropriately squash his story. Stella charms the nerd herd, then joins the Winx in bringing Naoki up to speed about their secret mission, how they're trying to save lives-including NAOKI's life for heaven's sake, so he should take things a little more seriously..
They don't know anything about the pocket watch, and they weren't able to harm the crocodile man directly with zappy magic. But maybe they can lure it using bait. The bait is enthusiastic and quotes, 'With great power comes great responsibility!” and Aisha squashes him.
Then Ace calls and yells at the girls about not finding any new talents. He sends the drone cameras over. The girls are dismayed. No monster hunting while on camera! I dunno why not, it worked for Discovery!
But Naoki can hack the drones so it's all good. He can make the cameras show video models of the Winx and not see the real ones. Stella takes the opportunity to stick her tongue out at the cameras. Srsly guys, why are you on a reality show when you spend so much time trying to get out of being on it?
Flora does some cool magic and listens to plants around the city. The crocodile man is a presence hostile to nature, and Flora can use her nature sense to find him!
The girls don their catsuits and head into the sewer. Naoki is with them, but he doesn't get a spy suit. He thinks it's great to be hunting sewer gators though!
The monster attacks! The girls fight with acrobatic kicks. Aisha has some mad martial arts moves. The beast sees the watch in Bloom's pocket and chases her, but Aisha chases it away.
Naoki wonders why he didn't work as bait. I think it's because the watch is more important, but then it turns out Naoki can also make a hologram of himself so I'm not sure if it was the real or fake Naoki the monster wasn't chasing.
Also it turns out the hologram Winx are glitchy. Ace is not pleased. No more live show for today!
Aisha agrees with me, “this program about talented people making their dreams come true is more trouble than it's worth!”
And Flora has an epiphany! The talent thief steals people who are about to have their dreams come true. Naoki says now his dream has come true, by his getting a job being a tour guide at his museum. So the monster won't be after Naoki since his dream is already real. So he's out of danger. The monster is still after the watch though, so they can use that as bait.
Driving through the city, wearing catsuits, crocodile man following them... Bloom tries to run it over, go her! The monster frisbees a manhole cover at the RV the jumps on it and chews on the tires, sending the RV into a ditch. The other girls were out scouting but appear just in time to use the epic music and some gorgeous magic by Flora to catch the monster! But it breaks free! This calls for Dreamix!
Flora's very useful, a leaf hurricane and she can track the monster! The other girls don't do too badly, Aisha's got some great waterbending.
Anyway after some fighting the crocodile man uses the watch to open the portal and goes through. Now we know what the watch does, but we've lost it.
Now that Naoki is safe, the girls don't need to protect him anymore The girls say how much he's helped them and he says how much he liked helping them. And he gave them his hologram program. Stella hugs him, which knocks him clean over with delight. Bet he'd rather it'd been Tecna.
Back in the RV Tecna announces she put a tracker on the watch so they could find the crocodile man again. She fires up the tablet table and is shocked to find out it's in the world of dreams.
I guess that's why Bloom could see Annabel in her dream, if Neverland is in the world of dreams.
And I guess we won't be seeing any more of Naoki, which makes me both happy and sad. He was kind of annoying, but he was also fun, and a lot less dumb than some of the sidekicks the girls have had over the seasons.
