WoW episode 7
7 The Chef Contest.
At “Tony's Restaurant” a spiky-haired chef with a French accent is getting grief for making “masterpieces” rather than doing his actual job. He hears about a cooking contest, which is just as well since he's just been fired.
Meanwhile the Winx are talking about kidnappings before breakfast, but their loft is bugged and Evans and Gomez are listening. Gomez wants to burst in and arrest them for kidnapping Annabel but Evans tells him to wait until they overhear a confession. I'm pretty sure in real life it's illegal for cops to bug your house like that. Then they overhear someone talking about taking big pills for migraines. Ohnoes! The Winx aren't just kidnappers, they're into drugs too! Then Stella, moving a picture, dislodges and breaks the bug. No more eavesdropping for our dynamic duo! Good grief y'all, even I know you have to stick a bug to something.
The girls are hangin' out waiting for the show. Aisha hates waiting. Bloom is upset about being fired, but says she's going hunting for the pocketwatch. If they can find it they can go to the world of dreams whenever they want.
Doorbell! It's a Mysterious Figure in a cloak and sparkly heels. The camera drones rush in to capture footage of her doomful approach. The Winx react like girls who used to know the Trix. Then the Mysterious Figure whips off her cloak revealing a blonde with big lips, big hair, big mascara... if this were an anime she'd have big boobs too, but she doesn't. Anyway she plays the bimbo to the hilt, hugs everyone, announces how happy she is to be on the show. Her name is Lorelei. She manages to alienate all the Winx instantly. I'm not sure yet if she's supposed to be Tinx in disguise or just an idiot. Hmm.
Dreamix magic! The girls home in on the spiky-haired chef.
Bloom heads out to look for the watch while the others plus Lorelei go find the talent. Lorelei enthuses over the pink RV and of course manages to set off the table and see the pictures, including one of the alligator man. Lorelei is really annoying, but is she evil?
Meanwhile Evans is following Bloom. But not well enough! Bloom gets wise, suits up, and uses her magnetic gloves to climb a wall and escape.
The RV arrives at Gardenia's botanical gardens, where the chef contest is be being held. There's a Japanese girl, a Mexican guy, and Vinchenzo, he's Italian not French, but he's our boy. Ace is thrilled to get such TV! He summons the judges. Cliff is uncertain. Margot is unenthused.
Montage! The Winx help the chefs. Aisha wields a knife with abandon. Lorelei and Stella fight. Vinchenzo doesn't want help. The critics taste the dishes and Vinchenzo loses. And goes to yell at the camera and storms off.
The Winx follow him. Tec shows him his reviews on the web, which are bad. Flora magics up a copy of his food, he tastes it and it's gross. Vinchenzo fails cooking.
Meanwhile, Bloom does the cool spy running through the city thing. Don't try this at home kids!
More cooking. Tec and Flora help Vinchenzo go simpler, only two ingredients... and Tec turns up with liquid nitrogen so he can cook with cold. Is this a thing? Ace isn't sure, Cliff likes it, Margot doesn't. But Vinchenzo gets a point. Flora helps him understand the feelings in ingredients, that you have to know your flavors. Meanwhile Stella and Loreleui's help has reduced the poor Mexican chef's food to burned yuck. He gets thrown out. Now it's V and the Japanese lady.
Evans gets a call and has to quit trailing Bloom, who can finally break into Annabel's apartment. But the watch isn't there.
Things fall apart at the park as Flora urges Vinchenzo to follow his instincts while Tecna wants him to be logical. They get in a very predictable fight. V leaps into action and makes some kind of icy fruit smoothie stuff. It looks pretty yummy. The WoW judges react predictably. The chef contest judges love it. Hugs! And V gets his job back now that he's a better cook.
Lorelei attempts to steal the spotlight.
That night V gives Tecna and Flora his secret ice cream recipe.
In Annabel's room (Bloom stayed there all day?) suddenly the closet opens and the guy in the hoodie bursts out and jumps out the window! Bloom does a solo transformation! And goes after him. City chase! But he gets away.
Ok, there must be a portal in Annabel's closet. Either that or the talent thief just hangs out there all day.
Bloom's back in her civilian clothes and walking home when Evans and Gomez stop her and flash their badges. The talent thief watches as Bloom is hauled off in a not-cop car.
I'm not sure what I think of Lorelei. She is so stereotypical, obviously meant to have had plastic surgery with those lips. And really annoying. I hope she's our villainess in disguise, but in this show I'd have expected her eyes to glow red by now if she were.
