Regarding Lothar

Jan 06, 2004 18:06

Lothar has not been particularly communicative as we work on Surak's Razor. This is understandable, as I am also hesitant to speak about (or dwell upon) my recent experiences at the hands (and other organs) of Admiral Janeway. Still, I believe that I have found out some of what happened to him. Here is what I make of Lothar's various statements to date:
His last concrete memories (and I am unsure as to whether or not he intends me to take that idiom literally) are from our last visit to
Starbase 668. His uncontrollable singing was part of a reaction to a recall signal which he had received from Starfleet Command. Lothar is an experimental cyborg which Starfleet made as part of Project GWIII, one of several "black" projects that Starfleet worked on around the time of the Cardassian War. The Project was deemed a failure and covered up; Lothar's memory was altered, and he was assigned to the
USS Murgatroid for safekeeping. Not our safety, mind you, but the safety of those not on the Murgatroid with him.
Lothar has some dim memories of Admiral Janeway which he also refuses to talk about, except that I infer that she failed to succeed with him what she performed upon me. In any event, it seems that she found out about Project GWIII and tried to bring Lothar under her control. Janeway had made another mistake - she repaired and upgraded Lothar's systems before she attempted to condition him, and he escaped. He was met by Lothar #2, a.k.a. Carpe Jugulum, who brought him to me before vanishing.
The rest, as they say, is history. We escaped from the Starfleet Command and the Solar System together, and are currently keeping ourselves busy while we plan our next move. Lothar is not certain of everything that was done to him, but he certainly seems to be more rational and in control (relatively speaking, for Lothar) than he was before.
