Sorry, I'm of no help. I immediately thought of Owl at Home by Arnold Lobel, but it doesn't appear to be what you're looking for. That's the only owl book I remember from my childhood! (I'm the same age as you.)

Good luck!

Edit: Maybe this list of alphabet books may help.

Thank you for the alphabet book list--I found one of the books I was looking for!! It was On Market Street by Arnold & Anita Lobel.

Glad I could be of help! Funny, but the illustrator, Arnold Lobel, wrote and illustrated the owl book I was thinking of!

I think the second book you're looking for might be Hazel's Amazing Mother by Rosemary Wells. Does that look right? It was one of my favourites!

I know this probably isn't it, but I wanted to throw it out just in case: is number three Chris Van Allsburg's The Z Was Zapped: A Play in Twenty-Six Acts?

I keep thinking of Animalia by Graeme Base, but it's probably not it.

The first one reminds me of The Sleepy Owl by Marcus Pfister (I think)...

And the fourth one reminds me of The Fat Cat Sat on the Mat by Nurit Karlin or Kitty - a Cat's Diary by Robin Supraner or My Nine Lives By Clio by Marjorie Priceman
