Raspberry goodness

Man, canning (why isnt it called "jarring"?) is HOT work. I feel for our foremothers, who did this in hot weather wearing a hell of a lot more (and much more uncomfortable) clothing and without the benefit of A/C ( Read more... )

I made blueberry too... I bought another 1/2 flat of each & made 10c of rapberries & 8c blue into jam. Have 4 qts of blues frozen & a bunch left for eating... mmmm. I keep thinking about yule log lol

Its fun! Erin taught me but its not hard, just time consuming. And there is nothing like homemade raspberry jam, especially in the dead of winter, particularly here where its so grey and you need that color. :)

I've "canned" something for the last three years, beit jam (from fresh hand-picked berries), applesauce (fresh or store), cranberry sauce, cranberry-apple sauce (my absolute fav!!), or spaghetti sauce. it's definitely a labor of love, not without it's perspiration or burns. i give canned things as christmas presents and my friends are always so impressed. when i run out of ideas, i'll probably move onto "baked good ingredients in a jar" ;)
