GBs vs. MBs - Advice needed

We're trying out Verizon's little Jetpack hotspot, just to see if, at $50 per month, it's a better deal that the astronomical sum I pay each month to WildBlue for my satellite connection

I've never used a hotspot device, but I've heard good things about them. Honestly, the faster speed would sell me on it.
