well, it's quite true in my family. my dad doesn't really like to ask directions, he usually tells my Mom or me to do so *g*.

Lol. That's cute. Will he at least admit that he's lost?

not really ... he will just tell my Mom to try ask for direction. he will not directly say that, "okay, we're lost".

BUT, if he comes with me and i bring a map, we rarely get lost. i am proudly to say that i'm VERY good with map reading. i have always become the "navigator" whenever we go together. when i was younger, when we still spent holidays together, my Dad would drive, and i would be in charge of the map reading, and i would point him where to go. sometimes, even when it wasn't on the original plan, when we wanted to be a bit adventerous, i could take him to the exact place that i wanted :)

I suck at the map reading! But there is this thing called the navigator that tells you where to turn, so that is my new best friend :) Still knowing how to read/follow the map is a good quality to have though. By the time I can finally drive i'm sure we'll be up to driving automatics where (you just sit there and) the car drives itself anyway... so :p

My dad isn't like dad either. He always asks for directions if we really get lost. Doesn't happen often though. He's pretty familiair with cities and roadways.

My dad's pretty good with directions as well. The only trips we get lost on is when we go to New Jersey for the theme park (Six Flags) over the summer. You'd think after 5 years he'd have the hang of it by now. Lol.

I haven't been to an entertainment park in years! I always talk about it with my cousins that we should set a date and go together but it never happens. Perhaps next year because I am getting closer and closer with my cousins of my dad's family.

lol that is rather drastic in asking for directions, haha. But it's better to ask I think. I tend to not ask immediately though, but after a while it's best to give up and ask someone. Though I don't think it's really a proper stereotype; it's definetly not in my opinion anyway.

It's a stereotype in the U.S. And a very accurate one at that. I know it sounds crazy but that is how the men here are. They're so stuck on trying to be macho and all knowing that they never want to admit when they are wrong! Especially when they get lost while driving :) So that is where the question comes from...

As for me? That is why they now have such inventions as the navigator, thank you very much :) That thing is my best friend, I can never get lost with that around.
