Author's note: So, this is a fresh, new beginning of Now What? Which version of chapter one you like better: this or the previous one? I hid all my posts to private, so people don't get confused ;). Also, I'm wondering how did you understand the meaning of the song at the end? I know I didn't really explain OI but here's the
link, please read the Type III part so you can see how it works. It will make you understand the storyline much better. You can read more than Type III part, of course :D I've enabled for everyone to see. Hope no one steals my story :P
''Happy birthday, Alice!'' - I heard my mother. Soon after my father joined - ''Happy thirteen, Alice!''
They always did that. Got all worked up over a birthday. I could care less if I was thirteen or thirty. To me, a birthday meant that another year of hell passed. I didn't care about the gifts, either. No money could buy my only wish I ever had in my entire life. Health.
''Alice, here's your first gift'' - my mother handed me a box wrapped into a gray paper with a blue bow on top of it. I sighed. I wanted to be alone, but my guess was that wasn't gonna happen in the near future. I unwrapped the paper, and took of the lid. Inside of the box there was a little, white cellphone. I didn't care much about it. I barely even used my previous one. I didn't have anyone to call or message. The only person I called frequently was my mother. And I wouldn't even do that, if it weren't for my disease.
Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
My train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of my mother's voice - ''Honey, do you like it?''.
How could she not see the pain in my eyes? How could she not hear the screams for help that were so easy to read in every move I made, in every word I spoke? How could she pretend that everything's okay, and that nothing's wrong with me? How could she not know that all I want in my life is live it to the fullest, with a smile on my face? How could she not see I didn't care about anything, not even about her or Dad, and how could she not see that nothing makes me happy anymore? Nothing...
I couldn't tell her that I didn't want the stupid cellphone and that I didn't care about it. So I just nodded and faked a smile. ''Um, mom, can I go to my room now? I'm really tired...'' I was tired. Tired of the lie my parents were living. She smiled - ''Sure, honey, go rest. Dinner will be ready-'' I interrupted her - ''I'm not really hungry, sorry.''
As I made my way to my room, tears started to form in my eyes. But I didn't let them fall. Instead, I closed the door of my bedroom, turned on Nothing and Everything by RED and layed down on my bed. My favorite song of all time was this song. It described my life and disease perfectly.
Enemy, familiar friend
My beginning and my end
Broken truth, whispering lies
And it hurts again
What I fear and what I try
The words I say and what I hide
All the pain, I want it to end
But I want it again
And it finds me
The fight inside is coursing through my veins
And it's raging
The fight inside is breaking me again
Still the same, pursuing pain
Is it worth all I have gained?
We both know how it will end
But I do it again
And it finds me
The fight inside is coursing through my veins
And it's raging
The fight inside is hurting me again
And it finds me
The war within me pulls me under
And without you
The fight inside is breaking me again
And it finds me
The war within me pulls me under
And without you
The fight inside is breaking me again
Oh, it's everything
Oh, it's everything
Oh, it's everything
Oh, it's everything
Oh, it's everything
