Author's note: This is my longest chapter yet! It has 939 words! Yeah! Hope you enjoy!
''Hello?'' - a voice came from the other side of the line.
''Hey Eric...it's Alice'' - I slowly said.
For a few minutes, there was silence and I thought he was gonna hung up on me, but then a excitable voice came - ''Alice! Oh, my God! We haven't talk in...in...''
''Two years'' - I finished.
''Wow'' - he said with a sad note in his voice - ''Has it been that long?''
''Yeah, it's been that long...'' - I whispered, unable to say what I really wanted to.
''Alice...''
''Eric'' - I spoke up, frightened of what he may say - ''I know we haven't talk in two years but I swear I tried to contact you...Mom had always been over my shoulder watching me so I never got a chance to call you.''
''It's okay, Alice, I get it. No worries'' - he said reasurring me - ''Listen, do you wanna meet somewhere, I would really like to see you.''
''That's kinda what I wanted to talk about...Mom and I got in a huge fight over a few days, and I just couldn't take it anymore so I left...So I was kinda wondering if I could...''
''Of course'' - he interruped me - ''You know I would love having you around and I'll always be here for you, okay?''
''Thank you'' - I smiled.
''Tell me where you are, so I can pick you up.''
I told him and hung up.
Eric...my eighteen year old brother. For as long as I can remember, he was there for me. We could always be found together. It was our tradition to come to the woods; we would lay in the grass, laughing and talking and sometimes just listening to the birds singing and the wind blowing, thankful for each other. He was my only ally in the war between me and my parents. He and I were always fighting with them. We loved every chance we could get for leaving from our parents' home. He never once acted like I wasn't healthy. To him, I was his little sister who he protected from everything he could. But he couldn't protect me from life... I sighed, the memories of that day when he left still fresh in my mind, like all of it happened just yesterday. I couldn't really blame him from leaving. I would leave from my parents' if I could earlier, too. He wanted to take me with him, and God knows that I wanted to leave with him, too, but our parents weren't so keen on the idea. Everything would've been different if it weren't for my parents. Maybe then, I wouldn't be so damaged...
''Alice!'' - a voice I've heard so many times through this two years broke my train of thoughts. My face instantly lit up when I saw him. He rushed over to me and pulled me in a hug.
''God, I've missed you'' - I said and a tear slid down my cheek. Only this time, I didn't cry because I've been hurt and sad...I cried because I was happy, after two years.
''I've missed you too, Alice...I...I'm sorry for leaving you...I didn't have a choice, I'm sorry, you don't know how much'' - he bit his lower lip, awaiting my reaction.
''Doesn't matter'' - I smiled - ''You're here now, aren't you?''
''Yeah'' - he smiled - ''Yeah, I am.''
The ride to his apartment was awesome. We talked about stuff, laughed, listened to Disturbed. I was so thankful he was here, and rememberd all those happy moments we lived through. Just knowing that this was a new, happy, turn in my life made me forget about those two years of pain..
When we finally made it to his condo, he said that I'm free to look around. I nodded and then he added - ''Your bathroom is right next to your bedroom''.
I gave him a confused look - ''My bedroom and bathroom?''
He seemed a bit ashamed - ''Uh, yeah, well, I kinda never stopped hoping you would come and live with me so I kinda sorta already decorated a bedroom as I thought you would like it to be and made the bathroom more comfortable for you.''
I gave him a huge smile and a hug - ''You're like the best brother ever!''
''Oh, totally'' - he said, and we laughed.
When I looked around my bedroom, I couldn't help but smile. The walls were white, and the floor was light wood. The furniture which consisted of a bed, end table, desk, drawer and shelf were made of dark wood. The bed had white bedding and on the end table was a dark red lamp and an alarm-clock which was the same color as the lamp. The desk had a small, white lap top, same-colored printer and a small notebook which had a blue pen laying on it. The shelf had all of my all-time favorite books on it. The window and the door were the same cream color. I went out of my room to find my brother sitting on the couch with a plate of waffles on it. As I sat in front of my own plate, I said - ''I swear, the room looks as if it came right out of my head. It's awesome.''
A small, satisfied laugh came from him - ''Glad you approve.''
We talked and laughed for a while until I said - ''Dude, you may be the best brother ever but your cooking sucks!''
He laughed - ''Easy for you to say; try eating this crap for two years! Thank God for pizza's and stuff like that.''
I laughed - ''I am so taking over cooking from now on.''
''That you are, sis, that you are.''
I laughed.
I have my brother back.
