Something happened today that I feel is partially my fault. I know that I should carry cash on me, especially when I know that I work and I'm not the one that always goes to grab lunch. So, Bosslady and I decided on Pizza Hut (or really, she decided and I agreed, whichever). So, I did my cleaning in the lobby and went to pick it up. Our local Pizza Hut has a drive-thru and I think it's much easier, so I pulled around the building. The lady, who was very nice, handed me my food and then took my debit card.
And then she dropped it.
It went through the tiny opening between the two metal parts that houses the drive-thru window.
:/
She went and got her manager. He started to say "there's nothing we can do" when the lady suggested they tear the metal things apart to retrieve my card. He agreed. I gave them my number, work phone number, and cell phone number. If they can't get my debit card out, I'll have to get a new one. It takes 7 to 10 days for the bank to reissue a new card and then I'll have to change all my numbers online. I really don't want the hassle, so I hope they can get it. I'm calling them in a half an hour to check their progress, but I'm not holding out much hope. I wasn't impressed with the manager, either. It's not like it was my fault. And I'm not really inclined to blame the lady either. I guess I'm not really blaming anyone. I just want my card back.
Speaking of debit cards, the other day I was at the bank. When I was walking towards the ATM, some guy yelled across the parking lot, "Hi, Sally!" My name is not Sally, so I kept going. He was looking right at me though and I was starting to get freaked out. He made he was towards me and asked, "Sally?"
I looked at him. I had no idea who this guy way. "Excuse me?"
"Oops," he said, stepping back, "I thought you were someone else."
"No problem," I said, moving closer to the ATM, "have a nice day."
"You, too," he said, cheerfully. He walked away.
True stories.
UPDATE:
So, the General Manager and a lady (not the one from before) tracked me down at the hotel I work at. I didn't have to pay for lunch today (and how would they have charged me, I certainly wasn't going to pay them now) and I have a $25 gift certificate. My debit card is stuck in the wall of the building. They can't even find it. So, now I have to call my bank and get a new card reissued.
BUMMER.
