Alright, so Asylum of the Daleks.
I was surprised by a lot in this episode and that makes me happy.
THE PONDS
After watching POND LIFE, I was a little worried about these two. What happened? Why did Rory leave? And it only gave us a minute and no real information. Now that we know what happened . . . I think it makes sense. A little bit of personal drama between the two of them. I liked it. And it was resolved (mostly) by the end of the episode. Rory's moving back in at any rate.
THE DALEKS
Tricky things, those Daleks. Have something dangerous to do and don't want to do it? Why just get your enemy to do it, of course! I don't like them taking over human bodies. It's just another layer of creepy. In my opinion, the Weeping Angels are still the most terrifying thing to ever come out of Doctor Who - but the Daleks are close to the top of that list.
I feel like I should have more to say about them, but I'll probably have to watch the episode a few more times first.
OSWIN
Alright, so this is the girl that is supposed to be the next companion, right? They were pictures of her filming the Christmas episode. Let's start with first impressions. I like her. She's sassy. I think that has to be a trait of a companion though - even Rory can be sassy when he wants to be. I was all set to hate her, too, but I like her.
The ending is a little bit problematic for her though. If she's been turned into a Dalek . . .
I'm sure they have something clever up their sleeves, but that's a long wait. (Not longer then the 8 months we waited since the Christmas episode, but still.)
MISCELLANEOUS
Overall, I liked the episode. I feel like there's still some stuff from last season we have to be on the watch for. During the marathon today, didn't Dorium say something along the lines of THE ELEVENTH WILL FALL WHEN THE QUESTION IS ASKED? If that's the case, all of those Daleks yelling DOCTOR WHO will certainly set something off. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this episode was more important then fixing the Ponds and introducing Oswin.
