I wanted to write about this sooner, but I went and saw Iron Man on Friday night.  If you like comic book movies and you haven't had the chance to go yet, I recommend it.

I liked Ang Lee's Hulk as well, although I was drunk when I originally watched it, so that may have had something to do with it.

As for Indy Jones, what's wrong with Communists?!? As an academic he should appreciate the advances made by Soviet science. It's true, history was kind of hijacked by political purposes, but that's true pretty much everywhere. Don't tell me he's one of those stinkin' supporters of bin Laden, like John Rambo.

In the Soviets' quest for scientific advancement, they killed a dog by shooting it into space. Therefore, they suck.

(That's about as logical as I'm going to get on a Sunday morning.)

That dog, Laika, was a hero to the Soviet people. Originally a stray, she was able to work her way to the privileged position of cosmodog by her own merits. In fact she beat out two other dogs for the position, in a very competitive selection process. She willingly took the risks in order to realize her dream of going into space.

The American space program, on the other hand, was not above under handed tricks. It is a little known fact that Buzz Aldrin was hustled onto the rocket after being found passed out in a bar, and he was damn pissed when he woke up and found himself in orbit.
