Wandering children have returned to the nest, hellos, hugs and Christmas gifts have been exchanged, and now Ollie takes them all down to the training area/work room. There are photos, maps and scribbled lists everywhere. Now I know you all have things to say already, and I'm sure you'll think of a few new ones once I run through this with you. But I ( Read more... )

Tara shifts uncomfortably. bits and pieces of Dr. Reyes's past have filtered through the campus grapevine.

"I'm on call for the JSA. Some demon named Neron has one of them. In about an hour I head back in. Something changes of that, I'll find a way there." She squirms a bit more. Damn Caleb and his paranoia anyway. "I'm sorry."

A pause and then. "One question on this though. What's the intellegence on Reyes being alive and why has Fuentes kept him like that? Seems like it would be safer to have him killed, which means I think there might be an angle to this... probably regarding Dr. Reyes."

"I'm in, Dad." Connor nods and takes another look at the maps. "Costa Linda is a human rights cesspit. Unfortunately, President Luthor might be backing Fuentes, at least according to the latest reports coming out of Sanctuary International."

Mia doesn't look happy about this plan.

"Okay, on one hand even I have heard about the problems in Costa Linda, on the other can anyone say TRAP!"

You think Fuentes might be keeping Reyes alive to lure people like us in?

I'll admit it's possible, but I still think that we can break Reyes out and restore him to the presidency.

"Back to question one then," Tara says. She wants to believe, but...well...it's been a crappy few months. "What intel have we got that he is alive? Pictures, documents, eye witness, what?"

We've got, or rather 'Lina has, an eyewitness report, backed up by a letter written to 'Lina and smuggled out. I know it's not much, but if they had more, I'd actually be more suspicious.

It's not unusual for these tin-plated dictators to toss whoever they ousted into some gulag, Tara. It gives 'em leverage when they get accused of killing their rivals, plus most of these scumbags are sadistic bastards who like knowing they've stuffed the person they stepped over into some hellhole.

"No!" Roy jumps up from where he's mostly been staying quiet. "Donna doesn't need this right now. If you need me that bad, I'll go. But Donna deserves some down time right now."

He covers his sudden vehemence with an awkward grin. "'Sides, I think you're right, Connor. Gotta keep the old man outta trouble."

Fine. We won't call on Donna. But if we get to cavalry-time, we'll need more than you, Roy. I'm not expecting it to get that bad, but if it does, I'm asking the Titans for a hand. They can send whoever they feel is up to it.

I know they're your friends, Roy. But they're also the only people I can call who are low-profile enough to not cause an international incident.

Roy shrugs. "That I can deal with. But you know Donna-- whether she's up to it or not, she'll rush into things for her friends."

Then it's up to you to talk her out of it. I promise I won't ask for her by name.
