Yes. It's something they ripped out of it before there was a visual element of LOTR. Indeed.

Actually, the Bat'leth is quite distinctly Klingon.

Like Tolkien, a higher-up in the Star Trek canon completely created the Klingon language. Though while Tolkien took a lot of Latin and other languages as the roots for the language, Klingon is completely synthetic.
