Finally, after almost five months, my infection finally went away in December. I'm still sticking to the heavy probiotics for a while.
Just weeks after a colonoscopy in which the doctor verified that the infection wasn't lingering in nooks or crannies, I went into the ER for severe back pain, and now I have a kidney stone. I've been drinking at least two gallons of water a day since the 5th, but still haven't passed it. I haven't had anything with more caffeine in it than tea since then.
My mom gets the ones that are hereditary. Next week, I see meet with a Urologist. I will probably have to collect 24 hours worth of urine to have tested, since that's how they figure out whether or not my cystine levels are higher than normal. All the information I have read up on cystinura basically says upping water intake is the only way to keep stones from forming.
