Yeah, it's a bit traumatizing. It's not the first bird that's died in my hands, just the firt endangered bird.

Omigod, how awful. I am sure you were only trying to help it out of whatever situation got it there. Anything cartoons couldn't resolve?

Well, we were banding, he got hurt somehow, got really stressed out, and died. I've seen birds die from less, but I've seen many more fly away strong from much worse.

We didn't do anything negligent and we did everything we knew to try to make him better. You band birds long enough, eventually one of them will die from it.
