Weird girl doing weird things

There's a fine line between a run-of-the-mill introvert and something more worryingly hermit-tastic, methinks, and I often have to wonder which side of that line I've set up camp upon. Does anyone else get exhausted after being around too many strangers? And, like, require a significant period of complete silence and isolation to recover from it ( Read more... )

*snicker* I will be downright disappointed in our little gang if we don't receive comments of that nature upon, well, revealing our mighty chest.

I don't feel that way, but I am kind of "take or leave" when it comes to people in general. I love talking to people and am energized by that, but I can be just as happy at home inside my head. But, above all, I certainly don't want people in my apartment.

Noooooo, no people in the safety zone, I hear you on that. This is the first year in about the last, erm, decade or so that I've psyched myself up enough to allow a couple of humans into my place for spans of about ten minutes at a time. :P

Haha, well I have one but it's his space too. For me, this stems back to my sister collecting weirdos and "popping in" without warning. Luckily, in a big city there are lots of places to get coffee other than my apartment.

Maybe it's good that you let people in though...

*g* I share with my cat, and that is the extent of it. (Oh wait! No, I'm full of lies! I had boyfriend-y fellow who would come over occasionally during school, but I forced walk-of-shames upon the guy at least a couple of times because it was hermit o'clock now, dammit.)

My logic is that if a couple of trusted people know their way around my place, they can come and save me if I fall down and grievously wound myself. Heh. You may believe this to be sarcastic hyperbole. It is not.

YES. Last time I went to London for a few days and did ALL THE SOCIALS I had to sit in bed on my own for about a day.

That chest is going to be stunning!

Does anyone else get exhausted after being around too many strangers? And, like, require a significant period of complete silence and isolation to recover from it...?

Oh hell yeah. Even family and friends are way too much for me after a very short time. Welcome to the Introverts Club!

Eeee, ain't it just?? I'm so excited to see the final product!

It's reassuring how many folks feel the same way. I wonder if there's a correlation between LJ-types and introversion, to some degree? (Attendance at the Introverts Club would be just pitiful! *g* Maybe we could all send a social butterfly to meetings in proxy.)

Exciting! Figured out a device for the Herald box too, so that's ready to rock now. :)

I usually do better once I'm actually out of the house and somewhere else, but sometimes if I try to force it, it's just a big ol' disaster. :P Oh well. There are worst weirdnesses, right?
