more steampunk blather
There are lots of nice critiques and put-downs about steampunk in this nice post, but my favourite is from the comments, and points out that steampunk issues with class show up very prominently in the costuming -- the Victorian technology, especially steam, that Steampunk is allegedly concerned with is usually very dirty, involving lots of coal dust etc, but steampunk costuming is usually about dressing in immaculate formal wear etc.
