I am so excited for you, my pet!

From what I've been told, grown men can't even wear shorts in most Latin American countries without being stared at, so probably not!

Actually what I'm planning to do is just bring a few practical articles and buy clothes when I get there. I want to wear traditional Andean garb.

One of my favorite memories of S.A. is the traditional Andean folk music (background for this video). I hope you get a chance to hear some live “Conjuntos Folklóricos” while you are there. It is a different world, a friendly smile will take you a long way. Enjoy your trip!

Neat movie. Pretty city. But where are all the fuckin' people? Streeets are all well lit, but there are almost no cars and no people? Is there a curfew at night?

I was wondering about that too! There can't be a curfew, because there are lots of discos and pubs in Quito, and I've seen videos from night tours. All I can figure is that those pictures were taken in "old Quito," where there probably isn't much going on at night (seems to be mostly churches and residential). The nightlife is mostly in the newer neighborhoods, I guess.

Or, the photographer shooed everyone away with sticks prior to shooting.
