Today (or, really, as soon as they ok my degree, but to me it's today) I am out. One year shy of 20 straight years in the Texas public educational system.

My greatest hope is that the damage is not permanent.

It is a real pain to be hunting for jobs while trying to finish difficult projects, but my lease runs out about 2 weeks after graduation, so I don't have a lot of spare time afterwards. It would be a real pain to lose Austin housing while hunting for Austin jobs ( Read more... )

So, turns out none of the universities I applied to for a PhD wanted me. Admittedly, I didn't apply to very many, but it's a hole I've dug myself into. I got myself interested in a narrow piece of CS turf, and I only see three universities that would be able to support it well. Witnessed an accident today. Nothing big, just a fender bender. Idiot really pushes his luck with gunning it after he loses the protected left, hits the person going on green.
