3. Character Information II
Age/Appearance:

Komui is 29 years old and has shoulder-length black hair that curls up at the ends. His eyes are black and he wears glasses. He’s Chinese, his height is 193 cm, and his weight is 79 kg. His birthday is June 13th. He wears pants and a turtleneck, socks with sandals, a white hat, and a long white coat with a symbol relating to the Black Order attached to it.

History:

Komui’s a somewhat obscure character, so here are a couple links. Basically, he’s the Supervisor of the Black Order, a very prominent behind-the-scenes man for the Exorcists. He’s a scientist and an inventor and does all he can to help defeat the demons (called Akuma) in a fight against good and evil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_D.Gray-man_characters#Komui_Lee http://myanimelist.net/character/142/Komui_Lee

Here’s more info about his world:

Komui’s from 19th Century Europe, though he was born in China. His world is an almost-steampunk mix of the Victorian Era and the modern age, with carriages and robots and quill pens. There is magic in the form of Innocence, wielded by Exorcists in many different forms (swords, “dark boots”, vampire-like fangs, left arms that undergo spontaneous transformation), but it all has one aim: destroy demons and win the war against the Millenium Earl. The Earl is a strange and powerful creature bent on destroying humanity by creating weapons from souls of the dead mixed with the grief of those mourning a loved one. The Millenium Earl is the head of a group of 14 powerful evil half-humans called Noah, each of which also have different powers.

Komui lives and works at the Black Order Headquarters, a large and very old tower-like castle that houses the Exorcists, Finders (people who work against the Earl but have no powers), and the Science Department, and is most often the only home for these people, including Komui. There are branches of the Order in China, America, and other places, but the one in Europe is the most important.

Personality:

Komui is something of a mad scientist, silly and disorganized. His desk is always cluttered to the point of being unworkable, and he very often hides from those who bring him paperwork. He loves coffee, and drinks it nonstop to stay awake. He’s known to be a rather irrational person in some cases, and his ego gets in the way of things sometimes. He is a genius scientist, often known to make mysterious potions and try them on people, potions which, unfortunately, work, though they may not end up having the desired effect. He experiments with good intentions in mind, though. Komui has an almost comically cheerful personality when nothing’s bugging him, but more often than not he’s either chasing after his sister (because she’s finally getting married, noooo!), getting into conflicts with the other Order members (usually because of something he did without thinking), or attempting to solve complex problems and help in dangerous situations.

Which leads me to my next point: his serious side. Komui has one of the most varied personalities you’ll see, and at the bottom of it is someone who cares deeply about helping the Excorcists and saving lives. He has a great sense of personal guilt over the lives that are lost daily to the war, and does everything he can to improve conditions and protect the the Order’s members from the rather corrupt Vatican-associated forces controlling it. Once he’s attached to someone or something, he never lets go. The prime example of this is his relationship with Lenalee, his sister. She’s an Exorcist, which means she has to go out into dangerous situations regularly. This worries him deeply.

The history of Komui and his sister, Lenalee, is worth mentioning here. Komui and Lenalee Lee were orphaned when Lenalee was a young girl, their parents killed by Akuma. When it was discovered Lenalee was an Exorcist (and was compatible with a substance called Innocence which gave her special powers), she was ripped away from Komui, her only living family. Alone at the Order, she fought those who controlled her with her powers, and was roughly restrained. The whole thing was a very traumatic experience for her. She persisted in her fight, until the Black Order had no choice but to let Komui come to her side. It is said that before they were separated, Komui promised her he would never become permanently ripped apart. He’d find her again no matter how hard it was, or how long it took. And he made good on this promise. Upon arriving at the Order, he worked his way up to the position of Supervisor. He works his hardest to ensure the Exorcists and others are safe, but his primary reason for living seems to be his sister.

At first, Lenalee never strayed far from her brother. However, as time passed, he became the clingier of the two, constantly worried about her, and terrified she’d get attached in any way to another man (and not need him anymore.) The phrase “sister complex” is often mentioned in the manga, and seemingly the only way to wake him up from a nap is to whisper in his ear that Lenalee is betrothed.

Sexual Preferences/Orientation:

He…doesn’t have much time to think of such things. And, living in 19th Century Europe, it’s probably a good thing, considering he’s gay. (Even though it doesn’t state this explicitly in the manga, there is some evidence. For one, his seeming lack of interest in female characters. His close relationship with one of his colleagues, Reever Wenhamm. And the fact that he makes regular phone calls to the Asia Branch to tease and borderline flirt with the male Branch Head, Bak Chan. Last but not least there’s the fact that at one point a robot he created to represent him became enamored with Allen Walker, the lead protagonist.) My best guess is he has a limited knowledge of his own sexual feelings, which will probably make the sudden onslaught of desire even more bizarre to him. Once all this is discovered, he may indeed feel sinful, disgusted with himself, etc., because of the taboo placed on such things in his time period, as well as guilt pertaining to his duties as Supervisor (the whole sex in the workplace bit), although at times in the manga he seems to be a bit shameless.

Powers: N/A, though he is said to have some sort of telepathic connection to his sister.

Reason for playing: I love playing Komui. I’ve played a bunch of other versions of him before and enjoy his quirkiness and ways of interacting with people. His over-enthusiasm and hyperness are fun to characterize, but I also love his serious side. He’s very dedicated to the Order, and ultimately is a very good and caring person, even if he does tend to get carried away sometimes. And he’s sexy. X3

First-Person:

Why am I hiding under this desk? No reason. Avoiding something? I’d never do that. It’s just so relaxing under here, such a nice reprieve from whatever paperwork that evil taskmaster is trying to get me to sign. Oh, but I’m not avoiding the paperwork. I’ll get to it. At some point. Eventually. It’s so mundane. I have more important things to do. My genius should not be insulted by such menial tasks! Yes, my first priority here is taking a nice…. long…. nap….. to revitalize my senses and ready me for further saving of the world, of course!

Third-Person:

(200 words minimum) Komui rarely strayed from the Black Order building, but today he didn’t wonder why his feet took him off in another direction. He didn’t notice the strange glances the guards gave him as he strode outside his workplace and home. The sunlight felt odd on his face, but he never wondered why. Never pondered the alternate nail-biting worry and incessant barking of orders to which Reever would soon subject the staff at the realization of his disappearance. And for once, he didn’t worry about his dear Lenalee.

Unwitting, he passed into this strange dimension of stopped time, a man in a turtleneck, socks and sandals, and a long coat and beret in pure white. He may have had his flaws, but here he suddenly seemed the embodiment of innocence, no pun intended. His dark hair curled up cheerfully at the ends and bounced just a little when he walked.

The sun was setting as he drew nearer to the city. The landscape took on an almost surreal feel, and he shuddered once in his coat. A surprisingly chill breeze blew past, and he studied the rows of buildings emerging before him.

He approached the nearest reaches of the city, still in a contemplative daze. The buildings, the cracks in their walls, rusty sign posts and mailboxes, even the crumpled bits of trash in the streets, it all held mysterious beauty. It was something to admire and to never figure out. Then, his eyes opened and he felt it.

The streets were dirty, the city reeked of filth and refuse, and a sliver, no, more than that, of inner darkness was unmistakable. How had he arrived at this place? He put a hand to his forehead. What had he been thinking? And where was Lenalee? He was a dreamer awakened from sleep and wondering at his own half-awake mutterings from a moment before. This was surely a Noah’s doing. He was set to die, he was already dead; the anxiety rose in waves from within him. He called out uncertainly for people he knew, knowing it was useless. But underneath it all was something oddly…exhilarating, something that promised and hinted and already haunted his soul. And amidst all the confusion and apprehension, Komui Lee couldn’t for the life of him figure out what it was.

Third-Person #2:

He knew nothing, only that he wanted him closer. Every moment ached with the possibility of the very next, and he shuddered, pressing Bak into the wall of some second-floor apartment in the vacant, corrupt city. The other body shuddered against him but he didn’t notice. Closing his eyes, he let out a breathy noise and pressed farther, as though the man beneath him were the last thing he had to hold onto in the world. And when that didn’t work he dragged Bak down to the floor.

The blonde didn’t protest as Komui undid his pants with shaking hands. He leaned down to place a biting kiss on Bak’s neck, smelling his skin, before their hips met and he thrust forward, pressing down with a sharp intake of breath. The face below his was red and splotchy with nervousness, and he didn’t dare glance into the other pair of eyes.

Reaching down to hastily unzip his own pants, he slid Bak’s lower, touching. The person beneath him stiffened with a quiet cry. What was it he was feeling? Komui thrust against him once again, wanting to know. Fingers tightened around his upper back, gripping and clinging. Legs curled tightly around his own thighs. He moaned softly, squirming both of them further out of pants and underwear. One of his thighs slid into Bak harder than he intended and he heard a loud groan from far away. Suddenly there was warm slickness between them, and he thrust again, accidentally getting a few tips of yellow hair in his mouth as he placed his lips on the burning forehead. And then lifted his head up again, pressing in one last time as a strange elation taking over him, making his whole body shuddered. He stayed like that as it slowly faded, face flushed and pink.

“I-I’m sorry… I… I couldn’t…stop…”
