Fic: Unattached, Like Me (Sherlock/Sebastian)

Nov 24, 2010 02:03

Well! Evidently I've stopped posting in this to some degree. Or to every degree. I'm still about on lj a little bit, but not much. And approximately 95% of that time is currently spent on the sherlockbbc_fic meme. Since it is the most chaotically prolific and enormous meme I have ever tried to navigate, read in, or write in (come back, Brooker meme! I could keep ( Read more... )

This is really, really good! Young Sherlock is very in-character, and the end ties it in with the show very nicely.

Also, I'm pleased to see you again!

Hey there! Lovely to see you too. The absence being my own fault entirely, obviously. Glad to see that pretty much my entire flist has got into Sherlock too, which I think, if anything, reflects on my good judge of character. Also thanks very much, dear!

This is brilliant! Your characterisation is very precise, and I find it totally believable that this boy will turn into our Sherlock. Really well done :)

ahhhhhh this was brilliant on the meme and it is BRILLIANT NOW

this is 1) a brillianr version of Sebastian, 2) a brilliant strange young Sherlock, 3) just, you know what, REALLY VERY GOOD IN ALL RESPECTS

also as someone whose ideas basically run out after 500 words I am always amazed by people who can write, you know, an actual STORY

I think the key thing about Sherlock is that he gets in his adult life to a point where he is totally at ease with all his weirdnesses, totally ok with the fact that other people find him strange (so that then when he meets John it's strange to him that John can get past the strangeness) - and what you do really well here is show him before he's quite at that point, but when he's already kind of on his way there. And he's helped along a bit maybe by this ships-passing-in-the-night, totally-out-of-step-with-each-other relationship he and Sebastian have - like, Sherlock can look at this and go 'oh. so that's what this is all about. well, never have to go THERE again' which is sort of freeing for him? so HERE is the goldmine of peter cook icons I plucked it from - there's a variety there but only one holmes one

Ahhhhhhhh, young Sherlock! This was beautifully done, Maddington, and you're a credit to that fandom! He's so bloody awkward, but I also found him really sad and lost in this - I would like to give him a hug, but he would never permit it!

I do wish you were on lj 95% more. It's all very quiet and I miss your posts like rotten! xxxxa

Awwww thanks man! And I'm sorry for being so absent, I suck, but I will try to make a bit of an effort, eh? The main thing I would like to say is that your icon makes everything else in the comment hilarious. Oh god Sherlock. Big mad face etc.

Oh I loved this! Very well tied into the episode, and a great exploration of both characters and their relationship. I'm looking forward to more from you. :)
