Restaurant Week is approaching!

Friday afternoon, I played volleyball with 12 other boys. They didn't have much expectation from me. So when I got the ball over the net, I felt unstoppable. And when I hit the volleyball 50 feet in the opposite direction, I felt like zero again. Both games my team won. But I highly doubt I had anything to do with that. I like volleyball. And I would have liked it better if I knew some of those boys better. But I didn't. And it was hot.

Anyways Friday night I met Casey at Blockbusters. I see a familiar field hockey face. I didn't know her name. So I pulled the terrible, "Hey! . . . Field hockey girl! . . . " That's worse than "buddy" and "tiger" put together. I was uber obvious that I had no clue what her name was, but oh well. I tried bringing up a topic of conversation quickly as to not have "field hockey girl" and her mother focus on my lack of memory. Casey and I found a bazillion movies we wanted to see. I wanted to see the movie with Macaulay Culkin in drag, but I don't remember the name of that. Any help? We ended up choosing Igby Goes Down and Maria Full of Grace. Both movies were pretty depressing. Igby = Holden Caulfield, except with a hot prick brother played by Ryan Phillipe. He always plays the bad prep boy. It's okay, I still like it. Casey called this a "Coming of Age" movie and I guess that just about hits the spot. The second movie was Maria Full of Grace. A Sundance-Award-winning foreign film. Boy, do I love a foreign flim. It's like foreign films are the only movies with plot. This movie was about drug trafficing from Columbia to America. it was really interesting in a tense, melancholic way. But it was a really good movie nonetheless.

Saturday I went to the movies with my aunt, uncle, mum, and dad. We watched The March of Penguins in theaters. It's a documentary of the mating season of Emperor Penguins in Antarctica. What an astounding life those penguins live! Very impressive and much worth the $6.50. I love movie popcorn. Anyways, penguins are so cute. An admirable breed. Must have been just awful taping the footage in -80 degree weather not counting windchill. But props! Good movie. If you're into animals or nature, then you'd like this movie. Boy, do I love movie popcorn. Only 50 cents more to upgrade the bag an entire size. So worth it. I stopped at Medium.

I worked 10 hours today. I don't usually work two shifts because it's just so darned tiring. So much walking. So many orders to take. But I really like my job. And I really like money. So I worked a lot today. There wasn't anything to really do anyways. How convenient! I was at the bar rinsing a towel, and the guy at the bar started talking to me. It was pretty small talk until he started preaching to me about college. That's when I stopped talking about field hockey and he started rambling about universities, and then to international politics. Goddamn was that hard to listen through. I'm sorry, it's just not my area. Well, I guess I learned a lot from him. Basically all countries aren't safe to travel to. And I should look at the State Department's website to help me analyze countries' statuses before visiting. When he finally left my manager told me how he dropped the F-bomb all over the place another time he came to the restaurant. Then I didn't feel so bad for not enjoying his diatribe. I think alcohol lets people talk. I guess that's good. This guy seemed like he needed to vent. So I'm glad I gave him his time. Everyone needs some time. I need my sleeping time. Goodnight.

I am going to DC Restaurant Week with Gina on Monday, August 1st. I'm real excited. But when I think about it, $30.05 is still a lot of money for dinner. It better be a damned good meal. But I believe it. Indebleu seems amazing! Indian + French = Indebleu. Genius. Eat out somewhere nice this week. Be spontaneous. Over and Out!
