Bitches Ain't Shit but Hoes and Tricks

Well. Killian and Tommy Murphy picked me up from my house around 5:00. We had a big ole cooler with Subway, applesauce, goldfish, and fruit snacks. I brought carrots and dip. It was quaint times 1000! We arrived at Wolftrap and we parked in the further parking lot just so we could go through the underground tunnel. It was pretty fun. I'm not going to lie. We were sitting in line at the opening gates around 5:30. There weren't that many others who beat us, but they were all college kiddies. I had never seen so many peasant skirts in one place before. But there was this one brown one I liked a lot. We sat in the line for about an hour or so. Starbucks had this truck thing giving out Tazo Green Tea samples and Mint Mocha Frappucinos. I liked the Frap better. The gates finally opened a la 6:30 and the whole crowd anxiously grabbed their spots. Killian had the cooler, Tommy Murphy was in back, and I was in front with the blanket. I was thinking about doing the quick paced walk as to not look like an idiot, but get a good lawn spot. That was until I saw EVERYONE sprinting towards the lawn. So of course, I had to imitate. My sprint was had more of a flail, but that's okay. We got great seats! Wahoozies. Nearly perfect really. And that lawn filled up fast. I was proud of us. We ate our Subway sandwiches in glee while Ben Lee came out. Ben Lee = australian cute acoustic guitar player. He loves music! I really liked his set and he was humorous. And you know how I love those humorous ones. He didn't play too many songs, but I guess because he was the opening act. Jessica came somewhere in there. Probably before Ben Lee. But I don't remember. She brought some chewy choco chip cookies and a nice baguette with olive oil. Some guy tried to take it from her in a joking way, but it was just awkward. And I guess funny to think about Jessica's face. Anywho. Ben Folds came out and was great! I love a performer who gets the crowd going. It wasn't as standy as the other concerts I've been to, but I guess the only other lawn tickets I've had was 311. Which was VERY standy. I felt bad for standing up since some people behind us didn't. I guess since it's music, you don't really need to see the artists, but I think that's the best part about live concerts! Well. Me and Killian left for a couple Ben Folds songs to buy t-shirts and meet Ben Lee who said he would be at the merchandise area. Well he was! And he was so cutsie pootsie. I bought a Ben Folds t-shirt and Killian bought a Ben Lee. Later we stood in line to get our stuff signed by Ben Lee. I felt bad since I hadn't bought any Ben Lee merchandise so I asked him to sign my ticket. But he did so sweetly! Then we took a picture with him. He has a very long face. It sorta reminds me of The Scream. But Australian and not scary. Then we returned to our spots on the lawn with Jessica and TM. Ben Folds sounded so gosh darned good. He did a great rendition of Dr. Dre's Bitches Ain't Shit. I downloaded that last night, and I'm going to say I like the Ben Folds version better. It was sooo good! And quite hilarious to watch the sign language translator go at it. Near the end, the entire crowd did the harmonizing to one of his songs. It was great! It sounded like a "heavenly choir from the heavens." We wished Ben Folds played a longer set, but SO GOOD Rufus Wainwright came up next. What can I say. He's so talented with a stunning voice that never waivers and plays great piano. But I think his soothing sounds caused many people to leave. Or sleep. Or perhaps it was because he was flamboyantly gay. It was pretty great watching just HOW gay he was and I liked how he was very open about it. But that might have offended some people. What with the Bush remarks. And the cowboy on his vest with his penis out. But still! How can you leave early from a concert! I don't know. Anyways. We finally left after Rufus. And it was so nice seeing Killian and TM and Jessica again. Oh boy!

I'm going to Richmond now to drop off my brother. As this is his third year living there, today will be my second time there. I'm a horrible sister, but I'm going today! Right? Anyways. Everyone's getting ants in their pants so farewell!
