Since it was so close to her due date, Kaylee has taken to sleeping on the common room couch outside the infirmary. She had been experiencing a lot of pain the last couple of days, so Simon knew that it was almost time

Simon had returned to his old room in the passenger dorms, so he could be close to Kaylee in case she needed him. Which she now apparently did.

He's pulling a sweater on even as he kneels next to her. He places a reassuring hand on her forehead. "Kaylee, it's okay love. I'm here...tell me what's wrong."

River had been sitting cross legged on top of the table, she's there just after Simon, standing out of the way "Bag?" Sounding concerned as she watches Kaylee's face. "Something's wrong" a statement of the obvious, the worry is plain even without being a mind reader.

Her frightened eyes look up to meet her husband's. "I'm...I'm all wet..." she whispers. "And it hurts...it hurts a lot..."

He's been looking her over and he nods. River's statement sends a chill down his spine, and he swallows, forcing a smile for Kaylee.

"It'll be okay, Kaylee-Love, it's just time. C'mon, let's get you into the infirmary."
