My bloody Valentine... aka the dramatic arrival of Scarlett

Mar 07, 2008 12:00

It's probably about time I posted about the best and worst day of my life, 14 Feb 2008.   I'm not censoring this because I can't be bothered, so if you have a weak stomach or are squeamish about 'girl things', please don't read further.   It's full of detail.   I want to write it out so I remember, because even an experience like this starts to ( Read more... )

She's very pretty...and looking so big already!

I'm glad you're okay. I got really worried about you with the little bits that I'd heard. It sounds like such a scary experience, but I'm happy that there were people there that knew just what to do for you.

True... I sent huge boxes of chocolates to all the nursing staff at ICU, the Private hospital, and to my OB... I really appreciate their work, they were amazing especially the ICU nurses. What a job they have. They even had to sponge-bath me... ew!

Yeah you got off 'lightly' luckily. My nerve injury caused pain in my view 20-50 times worse which was relentless for a few months. I had to bite my pillow for days on end screaming due to the agony of feeling the lightning bolts + being stabbed at the same time (how I liken it) all day everyday. That's one of the few times I begged Emma to kill me to make it easier on all of us, no amount of opiates + other pain killers except finally, lyrica helped it...

We are probably looking forward to going through pregnancy/birth sometime next year if I am able to produce a child, considering my background and there is only one *if* I am a daddy, it seems I might not be able to... Oh well, see what tests show when I get them soon'ish.

Wish you well with the family stuff.

It's not a competition Waz :) I can't imagine what you went through as obviously you can't appreciate my experience because they are totally different, the type of pain, the injury, the treatment. There's no comparison. Thanks for the good wishes anyway, and I really hope you guys succeed in getting pregnant. Whatever the sacrifices it really is worth it.

Yeah didn't think of it being a competition :> Just hearing of your pain brings back the thoughts of what I went through.. It's kinda an automatic reaction, same with conversations with people in/had injuries, we just talk about what happened so easily above anything else really..

Just tried to say in my way that you were lucky :D It could have been so much worse considering what the human body is like, so weak yet it can be so strong.

It will be awesome seeing life that you have created everytime you see her :) :) :) I've been thinking of the joys etc of birth, seeing 'a little you' would be such a great wholesome feeling of JUST GREATNESS!

Well, more wishes from me for the future! :)

I know, I'm sorry I felt horrible about that comment once I wrote it! It's only natural when someone goes through a medical drama that you would flash back to your own experience, I know I'm guilty of chiming in with mine already when others talk about their labours. I have to watch that, because even if someone just had a normal labour with the usual pain, their experience is still 'unique' to them and in their mind could feel just as traumatic as mine - it's all the experience they have to draw on in their world.

I think you'd make a great Dad by the way ;) And Em a terrific mum. x

Carla! My beautiful! I cant believe what you had to go through, what an incredible life changing yet absolutely intense scary horrible thing all at once! I cant imagine what Dale must have been going through when he was literally left holding the baby! What an amazing experience to bring your family together and to truly appreciate how precious life is. I cant imagine those days you had to go through without Scarlett.

I can only have a tip of what youve gone through with surgery myself recently and all the side effects of the breathing tube and the painkillers - (constipation... :() but im so glad you are okay, and your family is gorgeous.

Sweetheart you are one lucky girl <3

Rob and I were quite concerned when we hadnt heard from you. Im glad i heard about it from you and not through BL.

There is nothing more rewarding than children. I would love a child one day when the time is right.

Im sure what you and Dale went through will not only make you stronger as a person, but it will make you stronger as a family and a couple. It is an awesome 21st bday story to tell ;)
