on motherhood

When I was young I used to quiz my mum on her goals and ambitions and she'd say "the best thing I ever did was raise you kids" - and I used to think (not always to myself!), how can being a mum be something you DO?  Isn't it just something you are, by default... something you DO is like a career, or be famous, or invent something, or write a novel ( Read more... )

oh sweets i nearlly cried when i read that. spoken to humbly and honestly. im so proud of you.

side note: im so ready to have a baby. i always dream about it now. i even have names picked out and all.

I can relate a lot to what you're saying, although I'm not technically a Mum - more a part-time step-Mum. It's simply amazing how much we do for them, isn't it? It blows my mind. But, so do the hugs, kisses and drawings made just for me. ;]

Beautiful entry. I totally agree. Being a mum is the best thing i have ever accomplished and ever will and my heart just sings at the thought of who my son is :)
