When Aro joined the Volturi Marcus couldn’t stand him. He’d just lost his mate and he didn’t want to be around anyone unfamiliar but Caius had to bring someone. Someone who could read minds at that, but when Marcus’s depression came on too fast and too heavy he decided that Aro would be the only one capable of being the spokes person for them.
It’s quite selfish, Marcus thought; Aro agreed. Caius, however, didn’t agree with them. He thought Edward was being rational.
Marcus knew that Aro would lead him into what was beyond; he’d already lead him everywhere else.

Jacob popped over and gave her a short and sweet kiss on the cheek before their children walked in with their jack-o-lanterns that Jacob had helped them carve out the day before.
"Ew. Moms and dads shouldn't be allowed to do that in front of their children." Jonathan just smiled as Bella took the pumpkin from him and help them light the candles inside.
