He walks with her, it’s still beating, and he sighs. She asks him what’s wrong and he doesn’t respond, her hand in his and he feels like maybe he can live with that. (Only he can’t, because she’ll still be dead.)

"Hands, man. Hands," He’d heard this phrase before, in a time period long ago. He liked to watch Jasper, well before he met Bella anyway, and the words had always reminded him of the older vampire. (Touch d’touch.)
Jasper didn’t like people much, although he loved to be around Edward and Alice. He refused to be touched by anyone but the two. Probably the reason the phrase reminded Edward of Jasper.
When Bella came into the picture Jasper shrunk in Edward’s frame. Bella took up all she could of his mind. Jasper never took up as much as she does.

I can look at her, know she’s warm and wish to be that. I want to be human again; I want to feel all the things a human can. I want her. (It’s a secret we all hold dear.)
I can’t help but think about what I’ll feel after she’s one of us. Will I feel betrayed? Maybe I won’t feel for her anymore. The latter grabs my attention faster than it should. (Too much, man. Too much.)

There is only so much a human can handle and he realizes that maybe, just maybe, he’s reached his limit. He’s not sure if he even wants to wait for her to realize that Edward’s no good for her. (But he’s not human is he?)
Drugs are never good for you. They eat your body, they poison you, and they kill you. He’s done all three to her, well maybe not the first one but he’ll get there. Or so Jacob thinks.
It’s a cold and dark reality Jacob lives in, he thinks that perhaps he can’t do it anymore.

Laughter Is Great -
Laughter is the greatest sound to hear from a person. Except when you want that person and you aren’t the one making them laugh.
Sitting outside her bedroom window, she doesn’t know he’s there, and he watches as they kiss. It’s pretty close to being a play. Like a performance they put on, with the exception of the fact that he knows it’s real. (Like a winter death.)
He knows that he shouldn’t intervene, because she’s happy and she doesn’t know about him, but he wants her. He needs her, but he cannot have her. He’s reminded everyday by laughter.
