Thanks hon, we're all a little worried about the ash, because it can be very harmful to crops/water/animals, and people in that area have to wear masks now, it's gotten so bad.
I´m so happy to hear from you, I hope things calm down for you soon, you're missed in LJ land ;)
I totally chuckled at your "Sorry Europe" comment. I know a few people who are affected by it right now. I'm glad I wasn't planning to fly into Europe anytime soon. (I wouldn't have had a problem with having to stay in Europe longer.)
Hmm... I just realized my sister is in Scotland. I wonder if she was able to get out on time.
Hee! It boggles the mind a little that this is the most disruption of flights in the US since 9/11, and the most disruption of flights in the UK in peace times, ever. Yikes.
Hope your sister isn't stuck in Scotland, I doubt they'll be flying from there anytime soon :S
That last one is so disturbing. Sorry if you posted already and I skipped, but how close are you to the eruption and what impact is it having on you? (Assuming you feel like talking about it.)
It's funny, because I was actually thinking today that in Reykjavík, it's like nothing is happening. It was sunny and clear skies here today (although cold) and we can't see anything, the ash isn't close to us at all, yet.
The eruptions are about 3-4 hours away, almost in the middle of the country, and Reykjavík is on the west coast.
This can change if the wind shifts so that the ash is blowing in our direction instead, and that would mean our international airport will close down, and the US might be affected.
I´m hoping that it won't come to that, though. *crosses fingers*
Gotcha! It's like when an earthquake or tornado or hurricane happens somewhere that isn't here and it's all over the news, but has no bearing on my life whatsoever. But now whenever anyone thinks of Iceland, they'll be thinking of the volcano.
