Why in 2008 do movies look so ropey in the cinema? Isn't it about time that movies were distributed in shown purely digitally. A $50 dvd player fed into a projector would be superior. I know some cinemas show some movies digitally, but I think it's about time it became the norm. The campaign starts here ( Read more... )

I thought it was just my aging eyes that were making my movie-going experiences so lame...you are right...as much as we pay for a movie ticket, the visual quality should be way better than it is. On a similar note, we just went to see the new Indiana Jones movie and I couldn't hear the dialogue several times because the music was so loud. I don't know if that was the way it was recorded or a problem with the theater, but as I said, as much as we pay...

The ashtrays are for the smokers to have that one last ciggy as the plane is going down into the water?

Plane crashes over water...TWA 881 (1996), Swissair 111 (1998), EgyptAir 990 (1999) to name a few well known examples. No survivors though.

Ethiopian Airlines 961 (1996) crashed into the ocean off the Comororos Islands and 50 of 175 on board actually survived.
